A meeting place where past and future come together

A platform for art, culture, and gastronomy

We provide space for Rotterdam creators, build our community, and commit to an inclusive future.

Changing art

At MIES, art holds a permanent place. Every three months, the building is transformed into an exhibition space for a Rotterdam-based artist. Their work is showcased throughout the entire venue, from restaurant to bar and lobby, creating a continuous dialogue between art, gastronomy, and our community.

With these rotating exhibitions, MIES offers a stage for emerging talent and invites guests to discover something new time and again. Each exhibition is festively opened, bringing art and encounter together.

Interested in a piece? Feel free to ask our staff or get in touch; we’ll gladly connect you directly with the artist.

Artist Melissa Moria

At Mies, works by the Rotterdam artist Melissa Moria are on display.
Her work is intuitive and process-oriented, rooted in material research and personal stories. Melissa works with raw, natural materials. From washing and cooking linen to dyeing with pigments like onion skins, flowers, or cochineal. This results in layered canvases that bear traces of time, labor, and touch.

Her work moves between inner images, memories, and the tangibility of the material. Themes such as femininity, memory, and environment run like a common thread through her paintings, works on paper, and sculptural pieces. Fragile and raw, layered and open. Always an invitation to pause and take a look! Her work is also for sale. Will you come to admire her work at Mies?

Chef Lucas Jeffries

Lucas Jeffries brings passion and craftsmanship to the kitchen at MIES. His career has taken him to renowned restaurants such as De Proefstand, where he was head chef, and Renilde. Places where flavor, creativity, and respect for origin take center stage.

Lucas works with seasonal products, guided by a love for nature and a focus on sustainability. His dishes are refined yet approachable, always prepared with attention to detail and respect for the origin of each ingredient. His down-to-earth approach results in flavorful, straightforward dishes of the highest quality.

Stichting Lekker Geven

At Mies, we believe in connection – not only with the city and its people, but also by giving something back. That's why we support Stichting Lekker Geven, a Rotterdam initiative founded to directly and practically help vulnerable people in the city. The foundation is committed to people facing poverty, medical problems, or other setbacks, and provides support where it is most needed.

From the artworks exhibited at MIES, 10% of the proceeds go directly to Stichting Lekker Geven. This way, artists and guests together contribute to a more beautiful and fairer city.
